Founded in the 16th century, Aštrioji Kirsna Manor (Lazdijai, Lithuania) has long served as a retreat in the countryside, offering a haven from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Since 2001, when new owners assumed responsibility for the manor, this unique complex of buildings has been revitalised. By valuing historical authenticity and the harmony provided by the surrounding nature, the owners have embraced the challenges of heritage preservation, guided by the sustainable principle: “to preserve what is authentic without reinterpreting what has been irreversibly lost.”
To welcome guests, the owners have restored two historic buildings—the office-kitchen and the icehouse—transforming them into six cosy, boutique-style apartments, choosing Granola-hued (4007) wooden floors to enhance the interiors. Here, the tranquillity of nature beautifully intertwines with respect for the region’s unique history.
