In today’s business landscape, sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a key consideration for companies looking to make a positive impact. Let’s look at how Vinted, Europe’s leading online platform for second-hand fashion, has incorporated sustainability into its office design with simple yet effective choices, including our natural oak wood flooring.
Rather than opting for extravagant furnishings, Vinted focused on repurposing old furniture and sourcing second-hand pieces for its new office space. This choice reduced waste and aligned with the company’s ethos of giving used items a second chance. The use of natural materials, such as oiled wood floors (3305, Colourless oil) and unpainted walls, not only added warmth and character to the space but also minimized environmental impact, showcasing Vinted’s commitment to sustainability.
Vinted’s office, spanning four floors, is a testament to their commitment to providing a comfortable work environment for their 900 employees. According to one of the masterminds behind the project, architect Vilma Teodora Gylytė from DO Architects, its design choice was influenced by the need for more functional work environments. “COVID has done something good – it has pointed out things that didn’t work before, although everyone was afraid to admit and say it out loud. Now we can talk about it. Open spaces for that many people are inhumane, uncomfortable, and they do not work”, said the V.T. Gylytė. Unlike traditional open-plan layouts, Vinted’s office features semi-open spaces. Each work area in Vinted’s office is organized into clusters, fostering a sense of community while still allowing for individual focus.
